Modular provision and the lifelong learning entitlement
Preparing for the lifelong learning entitement
Higher education providers will need to make some adjustments to systems and data collections to ensure that they’re ready for the LLE.
Data returns
There will be changes to data collections, and whilst this will result in the need to collect some additional data items, we’re working closely with the designated data body (HESA) and the DfE to minimise additional burden.
HESA have outlined the changes required for the Student data return. We’re happy to receive any comments or feedback on this approach – please send feedback via HESA to liaison@hesa.ac.uk.
Details of any changes that will be required to the DfE’s Individualised Learner Record (ILR) will be communicated in summer 2026.
Student Loans Company system changes
The Student Loans Company (SLC) are making changes to their systems, which providers will need to follow. These changes are required from all providers, not just those planning to offer modular pathways.
